A. The actual length of a business plan is determined by the scope and overall size of the proposed business.
Q. How important is marketing plan and do I really need one?
A. A marketing plan is vital to the success of your new business. To be successful you will need a solid base of customers and your marketing efforts are the process in which you will attract and retain your customer base.
Q. How often should I review my marketing plan?
A. It is suggested that you review your marketing plan quarterly. It’s important to understand that a marketing plan is a living document and it needs to be kept up to date.
Q. Is there anything special I need to consider when starting a home-based business?
A. For the most part the same processes apply to home-based businesses as to others. However you should consult your local planning / zoning office to insure your location is zoned for business activities.
Q. What type of insurance do I need for my business?
A. Deciding on the right insurance coverage can be a difficult process and involves some tough choices. It is highly advised that you speak to a knowledgeable insurance agent.
Q. If I use part of my home for my office is there tax benefits associate with it?
A. In some instances you can receive some tax benefits for a home based business. It is recommended that you speak with your accountant to insure that you are receiving the proper benefits for your situation.

A. Although an employee handbook is not required by law it is highly recommended that you have one. A well written handbook that covers your policies and procedures can help lessen your exposure to liability.

A. The Office of Advocacy defines a small business for research purposes as an independent business having fewer than 500 employees.
